Create Name and Photo Art in Photoshop
Create Name Art
1. Create a new file in Photoshop with the following parameters:
· 10x8 inches; smaller for web
· 300 resolution (for print); 72 resolution (for web)
· White background
2. Use the color picker to choose a color. Use either the paint bucket tool or the gradient tool to create a background color for your name.
3. Use the paint brush or the text tool to create your name on the background. Experiment with the fonts and sizes of type.
4. Use the different filters under the filters menu to add texture to your background and/or text layers.
5. Save the file as Name Art (your name) in your folder.
Create Photo Art
1. Open a photo in Photoshop.
2. Image>Duplicate; close original image
3. Experiment with filters on the background
4. Create a text layer on top of the photo; use swatches, the color picker or the eyedropper tool to color the text. You have to have it highlighted and be in the text tool to change the color.
5. Create a new layer. Use the gradient tool with a color you choose on the color picker. Then, change the opacity of the layer so that you see the photo underneath the layer.
6. You can adjust the order of the layers on the layer palette to move the text layer to the top so that it stands out.
7. Save the file as Photo Art (your name) in your folder on the server.
